Michael Madhusudan Memorial College, Kabi Guru Sarani, City Centre, Durgapur - 713216, affiliated to the University of Burdwan, was established in 1996. Named after Michael Madhusudan Memorial Dutta, the premier poet of Bengali, this College has been imparting teaching in three year Degree General/Honours Course in Arts and Commerce Stream. The College has been catering to the needs of Higher Education in the Steel City. Eminent educationists in and around the vicinity of Durgapur, the Chairman, ADDA, the Mayor, Durgapur Municipal Corporation, MLA & MP, Durgapur and the industrial houses have made notable contribution to set up the College and put it up on sound footing. The Socio-Economic and cultural background of the people living in and around this town, demands non-traditional subjects, especially employment oriented ones, which can, in turn, meet the requirements of the growing industries of the town. The UGC also advised to open a new College with the objectives to impart teaching in non-traditional subjects. Keeping in view of these and responding to the call of time, we have started BCA, BBA, courses in the College under the University of Burdwan.
